passed through time in many forms and incarnations, the
settings and text have remained unchanged. The Man and a
Boy (published by Universe) by Dr. James McBride employs
techniques of academic literary discourse to update the

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that
this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed;
perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not
abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (2
Corinthians 4:7-9). Every November, Christians around
the world join together in prayer to remember our
Christian brothers and sisters suffering persecution
simply because they confess Jesus Christ as Lord. In the
traditional church calendar, the month of November is
marked by “All Saints Day” and “All Souls Day.”

experts say. Standing 8 meters (26 feet) high, the wall
of huge cut stones is a marvel to archaeologists. “To
build straight walls up 8 meters ... I don’t know how to
do it today without mechanical equipment,” said the
excavation’s director, Ronny Reich. “I don’t think that
any engineer today without electrical power [could] do
