REPORT IN TWO STATES OF INDIA
Christians
fearful in West Bengal |

August 26, 2009:
Anti-Christian people from the Moukahali Gram
Panchayat repeatedly attacked the Christians and
threatened to kill them if they continue to practice
their faith in Chok Borhampur Village, Bishnupur, West
Bengal.
According to an EFI source, on August 20, about 15 anti-
Christian people armed with knives, lathis and iron rods
shouting anti-Christian’s slogans attacked a Christian
identified as Khagen Majhi and threatened him of
‘incidents like Orissa’s Kandhamal situation in West
Bengal’ and to disown the Christian faith or face dire
consequences.
Running from one Christian house to another in rage, the
anti-Christians also beat up a believer identified as
Manik Jana and also verbally abused and manhandled a
Christian woman identified as Mrs Jharna Pradhan.
The same incidents of persecution took place on July 29
this year and on December 25, 2006. The Christians have
filed a police complaint at Bishnupur police station on
July 30.
After these repeated attacks, the Christians are living
in fear and under tension.
