AICOCIM
2009: FINAL PREPARATIONS ON |

New Delhi:
The fifth All India Congress on Church in Mission is all
set to begin on the thirteenth of October 2009 at New
Delhi. Those who wish to register should contact

aicocim@gmail.com.
The Congress is a decennial event, the first of which
was in 1970, followed by 1977, 1988 and 1999. This
year’s Congress 2009 will be the fifth. Evangelical
Fellowship of India (EFI) is the facilitator. The
AICOCIM is a place where leaders of the Church across
denominations, Institutions, organizations and key
influential individuals in India come together to review
and reflect on the past (ten years’) ministry of the
Church in India, study the present context, anticipate
the future and bring out a strategic plan for the next
ten years.
Some significant outcomes of the past Congresses
includes the formation of – India Missions Association (IMA),
Indian Evangelical Mission (IEM) the Christian Legal
Association(CLA), National Urban Network(NUN) and
Children At Risk (CAR), to name a few.
At this fifth AICOCIM as in the past, the EFI plans to
facilitate the convergence of leaders and key
individuals of the Church in India across denominations
to take time to:
1. Review the past by sharing their experiences
2. Reflect on lessons learnt and things to unlearn
3. Assess and analyze the current trends and context,
identifying opportunities and challenges;
4. Anticipate emerging issues
5. Evolve a unified strategic action plan and
6. Follow-up and implement the plan of action
This unified strategic plan will serve as a tool to
guide the Church for the next ten years in the process
of it fulfilling its role in impacting a transformed
society in India with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
There will be 25 Tracks at AICOCIM 2009: Accountability
& Governance, Biblical equality, Bishop’s roundtable,
Children at risk, Christian Education 4/14 window,
Christian Family, Christians in political engagement,
Dalits/OBC/Tribal, Differently abled, Emerging leaders,
Evangelical Theological Society of India, Human
trafficking, Media & Art, Member Care, Neighbours,
Prayer, Religious Freedom, Research,
Tent-making/Marketplace ministry, Training Tools &
Trainers, Transformational Church Planting,
Transformational Development, Unreached people groups,
Urban Missions, and Youth.
The projected outcomes of this AICOCIM 2009 are: 1) a
documentation of the findings and declarations which
will be used as a terms of reference; 2) a sober
understanding and identification of areas of our own
strengths and weaknesses; 3) a fuller understanding of
the present context in India with clarity; 4) the birth
of new approaches, creative ideas and ways, fresh
vision, revitalized energies for the fulfillment of the
Church’s mission and mandate; 5) a strong data base to
form; 6) strong networks and alliances; 7) forging
solidarity for cooperation and unity; and 8)
implementation of the findings of the tracks.
These tracks will be led by eminent leaders such as Mr.
Sanjay Patra, Mrs. Kokila Desai, Bishop John Gollapalli,
Dr. Shantanu Dutta, Rev. Noel Kotian, Rev. Hansraj Jain,
Dr. Mrs. Nalini Abraham, Dr. John Dayal, Mrs. Geeta
Mondol, Dr. Alex Philip, Dr. Brian C. Wintle, Mr. Greg
Malstead, Mrs. Vinita Shaw, Dr. Theodore Srinivasagam,
Rev. Ramesh Landge, Mr. Patrick Joshua, Mrs. Tehmina
Arora, Mr. R. Kannan, Mr. John Amalraj, Rev. Subhash
Dongerdive, Rev. Lalchuangliana, Rev. Dino L. Touthang,
Rev. James Kaiser, Rev. Johnny Desai, and Rev. Jacob
Isaac.
