FIVE SENTENCED FOR KILLING PASTOR IN ORISSA
Bhubaneshwar: A fast-tract court in Orissa
on September 23, 2009 sentenced five people to life
imprisonment for murdering a pastor in Kandhamal
violence against Christians a year ago. Additional
Sessions Judge Sobhan Kumar Das of the Fast-track Court
- I at district head-quarters of Phulbani sentenced
Sabita Pradhan, Papu Pradhan, Abinash Pradhan, Dharmaraj
Pradhan and Mania Pradhan to life imprisonment and
slapped a fine of Rs.5,000 each on them, special public
prosecutor B.K. Pattnaik was quoted as saying by
Indo-Asian News Service.

CHRISTIANS WANT VOICE, TICKETS
Mumbai: Christians have asked for adequate
representation among candidates running for the assembly
elections . The All India Christian Council (AICC) has
asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi to nominate at
least nine members from the community in Maharashtra,
including three from Mumbai, for the October 13
elections. John Dayal, activist secretary general, AICC,
said that the council had appealed to not just the
Congress president , but the heads of all political
parties for adequate representation for Christians among
candidates.

CHRISTIAN COLLEGE LAUNCHES COMMUNITY RADIO STATION
Bangalore: A Christian College in
Mangalore has launched a community radio station that
apart from being educative will vie to spread communal
harmony in the backdrop of conflicts between religious
groups. Karnataka Governor H R Bharadhwaj launched the
Community Radio Sarang 107.8 FM at St Aloysius College
(SAC) in the city on Wednesday, September 23, 2009.
