New Delhi : Another
feather in the cap of Bible Society of India, the
English Standard Version Study Bible was released on a
solemn occasion held at the Speaker’s hall of the
Constitution Club, New Delhi.
Lt. Governor Tejendra Khanna blessed the occasion as the
Chief Guest for the occasion. Bishops of Church of North
India, Baptist Church, Methodist church and leaders of
many Christian organisations witnessed the function. In
his speech Lt Governor appreciated the Christian
community for spreading lo ve and living in peace and
harmony. 'Jesus of Nazareth’, was my one time favourite
play. I would like to have a copy of it if available”,
he said. “God is the embodiment of love”, he continued.
“I must appreciate the Christian community for they are
law abiding and peace loving people”.
Bishop Malakar, Vice President of Bible Society of India
dedicated the ESV Study Bible for God’s glory. Dr. B.K.
Pramanik, the General Secretary of Bible Society of
India released the Study Bible by presenting a copy to
the Chief Guest Lt. Governor Tejendra Khanna.
North India Auxiliary Secretary Richard Khan expressed
his gratitude to the participants through vote of
thanks.
The occasion was also a curtain raiser for the
Bicentenary Celebrations of the Bible Society of India
to be held from February 21, 2010 to February 21st
2011.The Bible Society of India was founded in 1811 in
Calcutta by the British and Foreign Bible Society. Now
the Bible Society has offices in almost every state of
India making the Bible available in affordable price to
the common man.
The purpose of bicentenary celebrations is mainly to
remember God for His faithfulness to the Bible Cause and
the Movement both world-wide and in our nation since its
inception.
Moreover, BSI intent to create awareness of the Mission
& Ministry of the Bible Society of India in order to
motivate people for greater participation in Scripture
Engagement among children, youth and adults.
The theme of the Bicentenary Celebration is "God's Word
: Transforming life".
BSI plans to hold Bincentenary Thanksgiving services in
each Auxiliary during the Annual Meeting. Key leaders,
supporters and prayer partners from all church
denominations will be invited for the thanksgiving
service. The same kind of services will be held in
Branch level too.
