USA: The Assemblies of God
is now a member group of the Hispanic National
Association of Evangelicals, an affiliate group of the
National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). NAE is an
association that includes 60 denominations with about
45,000 churches.
Dr. George O. Wood, as general superintendent of the
Assemblies of God, serves on the Board of Directors of
NAE. He will also serve on the advisory board of the
Hispanic National Association of Evangelicals.
The Hispanic National Association of Evangelicals is
also known as the National Hispanic Christian Leadership
Conference with Rev. Sammy Rodriguez serving as
president. NHCLC is recognized as the largest Hispanic
Christian organization in America.
“It is a natural fit for the Assemblies of God, already
the largest Hispanic member denomination to fully join
the Hispanic NAE,” states Dr. Jesse Miranda, executive
presbyter of the Assemblies of God and CEO of NHCLC.
“What is historic of this membership and partnership
agreement is that we will serve all 12,000 churches as
it relates to Hispanic American Christian values,
priorities and representation as we defend life,
marriage and our biblical world view.”
NHCLC President Rodriguez says that, “With the recent
launch of the National Hispanic Pentecostal Congress, in
addition to this historic membership/partnership
agreement with The General Council of the Assemblies of
God, we are demonstrating our commitment to serve a
vibrant and powerful emerging community. The
relationship between the Assemblies of God and Hispanics
can be traced to the early 20th century when AG
missionaries began an outreach to Hispanics in American
and abroad resulting in the Pentecostal explosion both
domestically and abroad.”
