-
Do
not litter. Use dust bins and waste baskets to
dispose garbage.
-
Do
not spit or urinate in open/public spaces.
-
Do
not stare at anyone. Staring for more than 3 seconds
is considered as a hostile act or harassment.
-
Respect those who came ahead of you at a counter or
bus stop. Form a queue.
-
Respect the private space around each individual. Do
not lean on others or touch others while in a queue
or in public transport.
-
When a stranger asks you for directions, and if you
do not know the way, politely tell him/her so
instead of misleading him/her.
-
Use
a towel to cover your face while sneezing or
coughing.
-
Use
a towel or tissue to clean nostrils. Do not blow
your nose in public.
-
Use
the left side of the road while driving. While
making right turns, move from the left side of your
road to the left side of the other. Go around
traffic islands or lamp posts while making right
turns.
-
At
a round about or a junction, allow vehicles coming
from your right side to pass. The right-of-way
belongs to vehicles coming from your right side.
-
Do
not honk except in an emergency. Sounding horn is
considered an insult by most nations.
-
Use
pedestrian crossings and subways. Do not climb over
dividers and barricades!
-
Keep to your lane while driving. Signal in advance
before you change lanes.
-
Flashing headlamps at other vehicles during daytime
means, “I will wait; you may pass first.” In India,
however, the meaning is just the opposite! When
Indian drivers flash their head light, it means,
“You wait there; let me pass first.” Let us fall in
line with internationally accepted signals.
