Ludhiana:
Five Hindu extremists on 6 October beat and kidnapped a
Christian worker, Vijay Kumar, at Samral Chowk in
Ludhiana.
AICC correspondent, Rev Isaac Dutta reported that at
about 7:30 a.m., Vijay Kumar was distributing gospel
tracts when five men arrived in a jeep, forcefully took
him inside the vehicle and mercilessly assaulted him.
The Hindu extremists beat, punched and kicked him. They
repeatedly hit him on his stomach and cut him in his
chest and leg with a knife as they questioned him on how
much incentive he received by being a Christian, who he
is with and who is sponsoring him. They also threatened
to cut him into pieces and throw his body in a well if
he continues to preach the gospel.
Later, he was taken to a jungle; there he was
mercilessly beaten up again. Local Christian leader
Bachman Mashid called up Kumar and the kidnappers took
the call and told Mashid that they kidnapped Kumar for
preaching the Bible.
Christian search team searched from about 7: 30 p.m. to
1:30 a.m. for the Christian in nearby jungles. At about
2 a.m., they received a phone call from Vijay Kumar
telling them that the Kidnappers took him back to Samral
Chowk. The extremists threw him out to the road from a
running jeep.
The Christian was bleeding profusely and was taken to a
Christian Medical College hospital where he received
medical treatment. Other than the severe abdomen pain he
is suffering at press time, he is recovering well, said
our correspondent.
Local Christian leaders lodged a police complaint at
Shingaar Police Chowki. Christians gathered up at the
police station demanding immediate arrests of the
culprits.
