Dear
little child, our God has promised to protect us if we
obey Him. We are His children, and He is our heavenly
Father. When we stand for God as His children in every
circumstance, He will be with us. Here is one story of
how God protected a man who decided to obey God at a
difficult situation. The story happened long time ago in
Israel. Probably you may know his story. Read on.

The king of the country where Daniel lived liked him
because he was a wise and good man. He made Daniel one
of the rulers of his country. But the king had many
other princes and helpers. These men hated Daniel
because the king loved and honoured him more than anyone
else. They watched Daniel to se whether he would do
anything wrong. They were going to tell the king so that
he would punish Daniel.
But Daniel did his work faithfully. They could not find
anything wrong to tell the king. But they did notice
that Daniel prayed to God by a window in his house every
day. So Daniel’s enemies went to the king. They said to
him: “All of your helpers want you to make this rule:
Whoever will pray to any god except the king, he will be
put into the den of lions.” The king did not know why
the men wanted the rule, but he made it.
Then Daniel’s enemies hurried over to his house to catch
him praying. Daniel knew about the rule, but still he
prayed to God by the window as before. When his enemies
say him praying, they hurried to tell the king.
“Didn’t you make a rule that anyone who would pray to
any god except the king should be put into the den of
lions?” they asked. “Yes,” said the king. “That’s the
rule.” “But Daniel is not obeying you,” said his
enemies.
Now the king wished he had not made the rule. All day
long he tried to think of a way to save Daniel. But the
enemies said: “Daniel must be put into the lions’ den
because he did not obey the king’s rule.” The king was
very, very sorry, but he told his men to take Daniel to
the lion’s den. “Your God will save you,” the king said
to Daniel.
But the king was very sad. He would not eat his supper
or listen to music. He was so worried about Daniel that
he could not sleep all that night. Early the next
morning he hurried to the lions’ den to see if Daniel
was still alive. “O Daniel,” he called, “did your God
save you from the lions?”
Daniel answered: “My God sent His angel and shut the
lions’ mouths. They could not hurt me.” Oh, how glad the
king was! He told his men to get Daniel out of the
lions’ den at once.
When Daniel came out, the king saw that the lions had
not hurt Daniel at all. God had taken care of him
because he had trusted in God. Than the king told the
people that Daniel’s God was the true God and that all
the people should pray to Daniel’s God. The king also
made Daniel his main helper.
Dear child, Daniel chose to keep his relationship with
God even if that could cost his life. But our God is
faithful to save those who obey and trust Him. Let us
also trust our heavenly Father and obey Him in all
circumstances. Let us pray: “Dear God, help me to trust
and obey you always. Amen.” May the Lord bless you!
