New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the
Special Investigation Team constituted to inquire into
the riot cases of Gujarat to go into allegations that
the post-Godhra riots were engineered as a result of a
conspiracy involving the Chief Minister Narendra Modi,
Cabinet Colleagues and other high ranking officials of
the state.

According to instructions issued by the Supreme Court on
April 28, the inquiry is to be completed within three
months. The plea for such an inquiry has come from the
wife of slain Congress MP, Ehsan Jafri.
Zakia Nasim Ehsan, wife of the former Congress MP, has
stated in her petition that Modi and 62 others had
abetted and aided the accused involved in the gruesome
incidents between February 2002 and May 2002.Jafri was
killed by rioters on February 28,2002.
It is surprising that a person facing such serious
charges is projected by a political party as future
prime minister. He is getting increasingly popular as a
‘development- oriented with immense potential to lead
the country.
In a letter to one of the news-papers, meanwhile, a
reader has raised this issue: ‘ Should generation of
electricity, road building, creating industrial belts
and inviting the Tata group to build its Nano factory in
the state absolve Mr Modi of all the responsibility of
the murder of more than 2000 Muslims under his watch ?’
That is a good question. The reader does not stop there.
He recalls a similar incident from history: ‘Apologists
for Adolf Hitler often point out that since he was never
directly involved in the killing of millions of Jews in
German concentration camps during the Holocaust, he
should not be blamed for an act that was executed by
someone else. Specious though that argument is, they
stick to it because they have nothing else to clutch to.
Likewise in Gujarat its chief minister Narendra Modi
keeps avoiding the 2002 Godhra riots issue and the
resulting violence by touting the development his state
has made under the regime.’
‘Your sin will find you out!’ says the Bible. There is a
day of reckoning and those with murderous intentions
must be prepared to face the One from whom nothing is
hid. He is the Lord of the oppressed and Lord of all
those who suffers unjustly at the hands of the wicked!
