Bicentenary Thanksgiving Service & Anil Kant’s Mu sic
Concert, was held at Edmund Rice Hall of St. Columba’s
School, 1 Ashok Place New Delhi, on Friday, 16 April
2010 at 6:00 p.m.
On the occasion, prominent Christian leaders were
present. Among them were Arch Bishop Vincent Concessao,
the Most Rev. Walter David, Moderator of BUNI; Bishop
P.K Samantaroy, Bishop Samuel Sunder Singh and many
other Christian leaders. The Centenary Methodist Church
– Hindi Choir led the congregational singing. The Chief
Guest for the Programme was Dr. B. K Pramanik, General
Secre tary of Bible Society of India. He thanked the
Christian community and the church leadership of North
West India for helping Bible Society to reach to this
historical milestone. First ever published Hindi-Eng
Diglot Pulpit Bible and Regular Bible; “Asmani Kitaben”
for the Muslim audience and “Divya Marg” for the Hindu
audience were released and were presented to the people
involved in the translation and editing works. The
Bicentenary Postal Stamp Blow-up was unveiled by
Archbishop Vincent Concessao.
The main attraction of the programme was the Gospel Singer Anil Kant, who came all
the
way from Mumbai for the celebration. He presented
some melodious and famous songs. There was over whelming
response from the crowd. The audience enjoyed the spirit
filled singing of Anil Kant. Although it went on till
10:00 p.m. the crowd was no in mood to leave. The programme was concluded with the song “Pray for India”
and the Benediction was pronounced by Most Rev. Walter
David.
