REVIVAL IN ROING: 10 DAYS OF HEAVEN ON EARTH!
Roing, Arunachel Pradesh: A 10-day Bible training and a 3-day healing crusade in the city of Roing concluded on May 10, leading many to commit to a God-fearing and Spirit-filled life. The interdenominational movement under the leadership of Rev. Deepak Nabam organised these meetings from May 1 at the Gamgu Prayer Centre, Roing. CATHOLIC CHURCH TO FLOAT 'LABOUR FORUMS' IN KERALA
Thiruvananthapuram , Apr 26: In a move which could trigger political reactions, the Catholic Church in Kerala has decided to strengthen its intervention in the labour sector by setting up labour forums in all parishes across the state. Giving this call in its May Day message, the Labour Commission of the Kerala Council of Catholic Bishops (KC-BC) said empowerment of workers is more important, since labourers are the biggest victims of the global recession. AICC DISAPPOINTED WITH UN ANTI-RACISM CONFERENCE
HYDERABAD – April 30, 2009 – All India Christian Council (AICC) representatives recently returned from the UN Durban Review Conference and expressed disappointment at the silence on “work and descent based discrimination” which affects about 250 million people in India. Scheduled Castes, or Dalits, are 166 million and Scheduled Tribes are 84 million people. The conference, held April 20-24 in Geneva, was designed to assess the implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action made during the 2001 World Conference Against Racism. PASTOR THREATENED, FORCED TO LEAVE HIMACHAL
Rampur, HP: Rev. Binu John, a social worker who rehabilitated several alcoholics in Rampur, was forced to leave Himachal Pradesh after he was threatened by local Hindu fundamentalists and the police. On April 9th, Rev. John was talking to a small group of believers in a school ground in Rampur, Himachal Pradesh, when they noticed some police men stepping out of a jeep and making enquiries. One police man shot a video of Binu and the young Himachali believers. Then another police man called Rev. Binu aside and began to question him. Then they were taken to the police station. READ MORE
