Delhi, April 28: Sixty one participants
successfully completed a fortnight's basic course in
Bible and Christian ministry held in Palam Colony, Delhi
under the aegis of Harvest Mission to the Unreached (HMU).
The spiritual camp was held from April 14 to 28, 2009.
The participants were from seven north Indian states. In
the commissioning service all successful candidates were
awarded Certificate in Bible Knowledge, Evangelism and
Church Ministry.
Eminent leaders taught and ministered during this
fortnight to equip God's people for the work of
ministry. Among them were Dr. Josh Kallimel, Dr. Laji
Paul, Ms. Gita Surendranath, Pastors K. Joy, Chandy
Varghese, P. K. Samkutty, Daniel George, Rajendra David
(Ajmer), Samuel Thomas, and M. K. Babu.
A transformation for revival! This was the theme of this
15-day intensive ministry training called
TRANSFORMATION-2009 held at Harvest India Bible
Institute, Palam Colony.
"The Lord had been speaking to us about training more
and more people to lead victorious Christian life and to
be effective witnesses for Christ. After much prayers it
was decided to impart intensive training to about fifty
people," said one of the organizers.
"The aim was to impart a vision for end-time revival and
harvest and to give sufficient foundation in Bible
knowledge and Christian ministry so that people would
take up leadership roles within the church and even
surrender their lives for full time ministry. God worked
in ways beyond ourexpectations.”
During the morning classes almost all subjects of first
year of Bible school were taught very briefly. Every
evening, a 'Break-through Meeting' was conducted wherein
eminent servants of God preached on different topics
pertaining to practical Christian life and ministry and
then prayed to impart gifts of the Holy Spirit through
the laying on of their hands on the participants. About
50 people were baptised in the Holy Spirit over these
fifteen days. This included even the volunteers who were
ministering to the participants! About 23 people
surrendered their lives for full time ministry. All the
participants went back rejuvenated and revived to stand
for a cause.
Many miracles were also reported during the fortnight.
Satanic opposition was seen in various ways but God made
his people celebrate victory. Pr. Jacob John of
Pathankot was to preach in three sessions on April 18
and 19. On the 16th he suffered a mild heart attack and
the next day he had pain again. He cancelled his ticket
to Delhi, but on 17th midnight he heard a voice saying
in Hindi “Go to Delhi, go to Delhi.” Next morning he
took another train to Delhi without even a reserved
ticket! God used him mightily to lay hands on many
participants and see them being baptised in the Holy
Spirit.
A church sponsored seven of its members for this course.
The pastor of that church sent a confidential letter
mentioning the needs of all the seven participants and
what the church expected from them. The letter reached
Delhi on the 10th day of the course. By then each and
every point in the letter was already met by God! One of
them, a woman who came to the Pentecostal faith 27 years
back from an evangelical church that believed in
cessation of gifts of the Holy Spirit was baptised in
the Holy Spirit with the gift of speaking in various
languages!!
"God is raising an army of mighty witnesses to transform
this nation and trainings like this are fulfilling the
felt need of the hour," said the organising team,
comprising of Pr. P. K. Samkutty, Pr. Cherian Oommen and
Pr. Shibu K. Mathai, who were overjoyed to see revival
fire being kindled in believers who left with a
determination to impact the society with a Christ-like
lifestyle.
