“FOCUS ON
THE FAMILY FOR BUILDING THE NATION”:
OSCAR FERNANDES |
| |
New Delhi:
Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Oscar
Fernandes called for a renewed commitment to the family
in an era of rampant individualism and degradation. “A
family that prays together stays to gether,”
he said. Referring to Mrs. Fernandes, he said, “We
always go out together; we pray together ... Strong
families make a strong nation.” Mr. Fernandes was
delivering the keynote address during the tenth
anniversary celebrations of PTA at the Delhi Diocesan
Community Hall on February 6, 2009. Mr. Oscar Fernandes
praised the efforts of Praise The Almighty for
completing ten successful years in publication.
The Minister observed that he had participated in
several meetings connected with the inauguration of
periodicals and other media. Although many newspapers
and other periodicals start publication, only a few live
on to see the tenth anniversary. He appreciated the PTA
for completing ten years in publication without missing
a single issue.
Unlike most political leaders who are infamous for their
impunctuality, the mini-ster and his family arrived at
the venue minutes before the scheduled commencement
time.
The celebration was graced by Archbishop Vincent M.
Concessao, Archbishop of Delhi; Mr. M. P. Pinto, the
Vice-Chairman of the National Com-mission for
Minorities; Mr. Arnold James, Member, Delhi Minorities
Commission and several Christian leaders and pastors.
Rev. Dr. R. Abraham, National Secretary, Pentecostal
Fellowship of India, delivered the main message for the
evening. He emphasized the need for proper planning and
execution of projects envisioned by Christian
visionaries. He pointed out a com-on error committed by
Christians who launch out into various projects. Lack of
proper planning and “counting the cost” prior to the
launch of project have landed many a visionary into
trouble. Such neglect of planning is often done in the
name of faith and trust in God. Dr. Abraham based his
sermon on Jesus’ parable of a builder.
Rev. Y. D. Jayaseelan released the new edition of Praise
the Almighty. From the February issue, the newspaper has
become a fortnightly with full colour front and back
pages. Rev. Robert Jeyaraj released a souvenir to mark
the occasion by presenting a copy to Rev. Richard Khan,
Auxiliary Secretary, Bible Society of India, New Delhi.
Pastor Ezekiel Joshua offered the thanksgiving prayer by
remembering the faithfulness of God since the inception
during ten years.
The new PTA website was launched by Archbishop Vincent
M. Concessao, Archbishop of Delhi, at the function.
The Archbishop offered a prayer of dedication,
committing the website for the glory of God. The website
www.praisethealmighty.com was designed and commissioned
by Blesson MPR, PalmCedar Systems, New Delhi.
All the news, articles and features that appear in the
print edition will now be available online. Back-issues
of Praise The Almighty are available for download in a
Portable Document Format (PDF) in the archives section.
Readers who wish to subscribe can do so online by
submitting their names and contact details in a

Earlier in the evening M. K. Babu, the Managing Editor
of Praise the Almighty welcomed the gather-ing. Mr.
Titus Koshy performed the Master of Ceremonies and Mr.
Bright Sam, Honorary Editor, proposed a vote of thanks.
