A group
of people wanted the world to hear them and about their
ideas, so they thought they would campaign and that is
what they did. I am talking about the campaign by
British Humanistic Society (an anti-theistic
organization) by the beginning of this year. Their
target was students and young people. Their attack was
predominantly against Christianity. They kept
advertisements in busses across Europe saying 'The re is
probably no God so…' Each one asked people to do various
things, because probably there is no God! One said '…go
ahead and enjoy your life' and another said '…stop
worrying and enjoy your life' It not only created a
media attention for the subject but also made many to
think. If one were to look closely, their statements
were not just irresponsible but also illogical.
When we say God exists, they asked for proof! It is not
possible to put God into a test tube and show it to the
world. If we were able to do that we cannot call that
entity 'God'. Proving the existence of God using science
as a tool is impossible… say it is like an ant using
just a screwdriver to make the international space
station. But proving the non existence of God is even
more difficult, if not impossible. Because they will
have to rule out all the other possibilities and if some
does prove it, the proving entity will qualify to be a
God. Or, if one wants to deny the existence of an
absolute, infinite entity, one should possess infinite
wisdom. Only God has such wisdom! So, in order to
sidestep this problem, they stated 'There is probably no
God…'
In doing so, they themselves have brought in a great
degree of uncertainty in to their own statement. They
are talking about things on which they themselves are
not certain. And using that uncertain assumption, they
want others to act! Doesn't that sound foolish, is it
not malicious? Consider this, two kids go to a lake
after a physics class and one tells the other…'Well, you
know I think that the principle of gravity does not
probably apply to water, so you probably won't sink…you
jump!' If anyone in their normal mind hears such a
thing, one is forced to conclude that the advisor is
either foolish or wicked. I cannot think of a third
explanation. I am not too sure which group these
campaigners fall in!
Then, they are trying to promise a 'utopia', if there is
no God. They say 'go ahead' or 'stop worrying' because
probably there is no God. Go ahead…where? What they have
forgotten is that almost all the fundamental discoveries
in science, development of culture and arts till date
was driven by or built around the 'God' idea. Whenever
they tried to drive away the idea of God, some terrible
men took God's place and committed uncountable
atrocities. They want people to 'stop worrying'. Let me
advice them also to stop worrying first! Anyway they
have no God then why are they worried and making this
sort of campaign? This in itself proves that one cannot
stop worrying if you take the idea of God away. In fact
the opposite happens! When Christ said, 'Do not worry'
He assured us that God will take care of us. These
people are suggesting 'go and jump in the water because
probably gravity does not work and stop worrying about
it!
They are advising everyone to 'enjoy their lives'
because there is probably no God. Only they know what
they mean 'enjoying life' in the present context. Do
they think if one has God, people do not enjoy life? If
there is no God, then there is no purpose for anything
including living and when there is no purpose, where is
the question of enjoying? Don't we know about the
miserable lives of many of their prominent friends in
their own backyard? On the other hand, Christians,
despite of persecution and suffering have had the
privilege of most fulfilling, purposeful and meaningful
lives. They are somehow trying to scare people that if
you believe in God, you cannot enjoy life! This is pure
lie and the contrary is always true.
In summary they are saying… 'Gravity probably does not
work in water, don't worry about it and just jump and
enjoy your life during the process of drowning and
dying'! Come on. Are they kidding?
By the way…If you are sinking, listening to these
people, call on the Savior Christ who is willing to save
you.
