Pastor
Rick Warren’s team is bringing to India, in association
with the Evangelical Fellowship of India, a conference
for pastors based on the best-selling book, “Purpose
Driven Church.” The conference will be held in New Delhi
from 9th – 11th July, 2009 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm daily
at the Delhi Bible Fellowship centre, 22 Bhai Veer Singh
Marg, Gole Market, New Delhi.
The conference will be held in English and in Hindi.
Participants may join the language stream of their
choice.
The Saddleback Church of USA, under the able leadership
of Pastor Rick Warren, has partnered with 24 other U.S.
Churches that have each agreed to travel to various
strategic cities in India every 6 months for next 3
years to assist senior pastors that are interested in
learning how to implement “The Purpose Driven Church
principles of church health & growth” in their churches.
These senior pastors from the US have each implemented
these principles in their own churches for more than 7
years and with adaptations & contextualization found the
paradigm to move their churches to new levels of growth.
During this proposed 3 year process, pastors from the
U.S. will have committed to cover their own expenses to
come to India every 6 months whereas the Indian pastors
are asked to cover their own expenses for these
city-wide conferences. As soon as Indian pastors have
had the time to fully implement & transition their
churches to this PD & PEACE paradigm, the preference of
Saddleback Church is that U.S. pastors will no longer be
needed as teachers/coaches/mentors. In the U.S. they
have found that it typically takes 3-5 years to fully
transition to health & growth.
While undertaking this voluntary service to the Churches
in India, the Saddleback Church has wanted to avoid the
appearance of starting their own organization. They have
approached EFI with this proposal and EFI, under the
leadership of Rev Richard Howell, has agreed to oversee
this and sanction and promote this 3 year training
process in every state of India, including Delhi.
A PDC Conference was held in Delhi from Sept 22-24,
2008. Pastor Dave Holden and Pastor Mike Constantz (both
from Saddleback Church) had taught in this seminar along
with Pastor Kelly Walter from the Rock Church.
The pastors from USA are coming again in July to do
similar conference once again. This will give
opportunity to those of us who could not attend the
previous one to attend this present one. I, therefore,
request you to kindly think about this opportunity
prayerfully and plan to attend the seminar and not miss
this chance, which is a life time opportunity for the
Churches in India.
Those desirous of participating in this conference
should obtain details from the EFI office in New Delhi
or from the EFI website.
