Jesus
said: "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in
Moses' seat. So you must be careful to do everything
they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do
not practice what they preach." Matt 23:2-3
The above verses warn us about the contradiction that
exists between the preaching and life of the Pharisees
and Scribes. They preached holiness, justice and
obedience to God and practised violence, injustice and
hypocrisy. They just wanted to be on the seats and run
their show for their selfish motives. Benefits through
sitting on their throne was significant than propagating
and professing the truth and leading the people in the
path of God.
Moreover, they were least concerned about the perversion
prevailing in the nation. Rather, they wanted the
multitude to blindly follow them. Intolerant attitude to
those who profess the truth and think differently
brought ex-communication to many. Compromise by the
leaders to violation of God’s law led the people astray.
Eventually, a nation that was led by the Holy Spirit
turned out to be demon possessed and unethical.
Jesus Christ loved every single one of this world; but
the self-righteous won his wrath. His love is same even
today. He had disagreement with the so called care
takers of the religion. I firmly believe He is the same
today. Jesus deals with every sinner with compassion.
His arms are open for them. He would name every single
deviation from His Word a sin. He came to this world to
save the sinner and do away with sin. It is just not to
save the sinner rather He is at work to abolish sin.
It seems many evangelical and charismatic leaders do not
want to offend anyone by making strong preaching against
gay marriage, lesbian and stem cell research etc. at
least within the walls of the church. Accommodating a
homosexual within the church by letting him continue in
his sin is unbiblical. Godly counseling and obedience to
the Word of God will bring healing in his unnatural
nature. A churched gay must be healed from his unnatural
and ungodly attitude. Otherwise Jesus died in vain.
Church is the place where those who want to get rid of
sin receive a healing touch.
Remaining tongue-tied while the nation goes astray shows
the irresponsibility of our leaders. The congregation is
puzzled on what the Bible says about all these
perversions.
At least a circular to the congregations by the leaders
would serve the purpose saving them going astray. God
never tolerates sin though He loves a sinner. God
delights in any and all effort to eliminate these
distortions.
PRAISE THE ALMIGHTY has space for you to express your
views on any issue that threatens to undermine the truth
of God.
