New Delhi: Mrs. Sheila Dixit has become Chief
Minister of Delhi for record 3rd time. The Congress
party in the state under her able leadership emerged
victorious in the recent Assembly elections conducted on
November 29, 2008. Her party secured 43 out of 70
Assembly seats.
The
ruling party went to the polls on the achievements of
the Government and on the promise of continuance of
progress. The main slogans - "price rise and Congress
being soft on terrorism" - of the opposition BJP could
not deter the voters from acknowledging the determined
efforts of the Congress Government for the last 10 years
in developing the city, and its positive achievements.
Christians in the city prayed incessantly for a
Government of God's choice to be installed in Delhi.
Many Christian leaders conducted special intercessory
prayer meetings before the elections.
The
result on December 8, 2008 came as a surprise to many.
However, Christian leaders have expressed faith that a
secular party would continue to serve all sections of
the people with social justice, upholding the nation's
democratic and secular credentials.
