Nalgonda District,
21, December 2009 : A pastor was brutally
injured on his head at Devarakonda village, Nalgonda
district, Andhra Pradesh on 20th December 2009.
On Sunday evening around 7.30 pm Pastor R Timothy and
his wife Nirmala along with their youngest child were on
their way to Kottaguda village on his bicycle. Three RSS/BJP
radicals followed the pastor on two motorcycles and
stopped him on the way. They beat the pastor with an
iron rod on his head and also beat up his wife Nirmala
on her left leg. Pastor was profusely bleeding due to
the injury and the passers by phoned an emergency
ambulance and he was immediately taken to the Government
Area Hospital, Nalgonda and admitted. He has received 6
stitches on his head.
At 9.30 pm one local pastor from Devarakonda village
gave a complaint against the radicals at Nalgonda Town
Police Station and as a result FIR No. 327/09 under
section 324 was filed. The police are investigating.
Eight Christians including 3 pastors arrested in
Karnataka 20th December'09: Eight persons including
Pastor N Nagesh, 28 years, Pastor Jilani and Joshua
Abraham were arrested by police in Mudugere, Tumkur
Karnataka. The believers and pastors were detained while
they were proceeding towards Sinderkette Kere after
their Sunday worship.
The believers are M Lingaraj, Anjeenappa, K Shivakumar,
Kashinath Kallappa and Imtihas. A case is registered
under crime number 165/2009. The arrested were charged
with forceful conversion under IPC sections 295A and
153A.
The arrested have been lodged in Mudugere sub jail.
Around 12.30 in the afternoon, the police detained a
total of 15
people belonging to the Immanual Baptist Church Mudugere,
Tumkur district, Karnataka for questioning on the
allegation of conversion by locall hindutva outfits.
Meanwhile the Chairperson of the Karnataka Law
Commission V. S. Malimath on Sunday called upon people
not to violate human rights.
Speaking at an awareness programme on human rights
organised by the Karnataka Human Rights Council here,
Mr. Malimath stressed on the need to educate people on
human rights and their violations GCIC urges the
Karnataka state government to rein the right violaters
against christians in Karnataka.
A Court has given order to release eight Christians
after the intervention of GCIC on 21st December 2009.
