New Delhi, December 14, 2009 (CT): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was last week urged to oppose the decriminalizing of homosexuality in India. An inter-faith delegation led by Archbishop of Delhi, Vincent M Concessao, on Dec. 9 met the Prime Minister and informed him the consequences of the July 2 Delhi High Court verdict that legalized consensual gay sex by overturning a 148-year-old colonial law. PASTOR BRUTALLY ATTACKED IN NALGONDA DISTRICT, ANDHRA PRADESH
Nalgonda District, 21, December 2009 :
A pastor was brutally injured on his head at Devarakonda village, Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh on 20th December 2009. On Sunday evening around 7.30 pm Pastor R Timothy and his wife Nirmala along with their youngest child were on their way to Kottaguda village on his bicycle. Three RSS/BJP radicals followed the pastor on two motorcycles and stopped him on the way. They beat the pastor with an iron rod on his head and also beat up his wife Nirmala on her left leg.

MASS CONVERSION TO HINDUISM IN SURAT CENSURED

Jagadguru Narendracharya Maharaj is in soup for conducting mass conversion of thousands in Surat on Monday. The Hindu seer who spearheads a religious campaign against Christians was censured for holding a function in which 1,747 people were reconverted to Hinduism without the permission of the district magistrate.

ORAL ROBERTS GOES HOME AT 91
California (NYT) Dec 22: Oral Roberts, the Pentecostal evangelist whose televised faith-healing ministry attracted millions of followers worldwide and made him one of the most recognizable and controversial religious leaders of the 20th century, died Tuesday in Newport Beach, Calif. He was 91. The cause was complications of pneumonia, said Melany Ethridge, a spokeswoman for Mr. Roberts. He died at a hospital in Newport Beach, where he lived. READ MORE

WOMAN ASSAULTS THE POPE ON CHRISTMAS DAY
Vatican: A woman jumped a barrier at the start of Christmas Eve Mass at St. Peter's Basilica and knocked down the pope, briefly disrupting ceremonies. London: A new survey done before Christmas had revealed that almost 93% of Britons would have been skipping church on Christmas Day. They would either be spending Christmas eating turkey, drinking champagne or opening presents - but will not attend church.
