THE WORLD'S TALLEST TOWER, ‘BURJ KHALIFA' IS 828 METRES (2,716.5 FT) HIGH
Dubai, UAE; January 4, 2010: The world's tallest tower, developed by Emaar Properties, was unveiled tonight to a crowd of thousands and the world in a crescendo of fireworks, lasers and fountain displays. The official height of the tower, unveiled as 'Burj Khalifa', was announced as 828 metres (2,716.5 ft). READ MORE

MALAYSIAN CHURCH FIRE-BOMBED AHEAD OF MUSLIM PROTESTS
KUALA LUMPUR: A church in Malaysia has been fire-bombed in an attack that gutted its ground floor, church officials said on Friday, escalating a dispute over the use of the word "Allah" by non-Muslims. A fire department official said all stations were on alert for more blazes at religious buildings, ahead of planned nationwide protests on Friday by Muslim groups angry over the use of the word as a translation for the Christian "God." UCAN, Dec 30 2009: Catholic Church leaders have applauded a hospital's decision not to allow a patient, who has been comatose for the past 36 years, to die by withholding nutrition from her. URBANA 09: 16,000 STUDENTS WELCOME NEW YEAR WITH COMMITMENT TO GLOBAL MISSIONS
St. Louis, Jan 4, 2009: 16,000 young Christians brought in the New Year with a challenge to couple evangelism with social justice for the world's poor. Students spent the final week of 2009 in St. Louis at the Urbana 09 Missions Conference, where young people from across the U.S. and Canada took part in worship sessions and Bible studies, many of which focused on refugees and how to share the gospel with homosexuals and Muslims. MYANMAR: BIBLE PROGRAM GIVES HOPE TO THE DESPERATE
YANGON, JAN 6 (UCAN) -- A weekly Bible-sharing program open to people of all faiths in Yangon has saved at least one woman from suicide. Matthias Rani, 58, a mother of two, had tried to take her own life after being driven to despair by poverty. "Unable to bear the burden, I planned three times to kill myself," she told UCA News. 17 December, 2009 Eritrea (MNN): For once there's some good news coming out of Eritrea. International Christian Concern reports that some Eritrean Christians have been released by authorities. NEW THREAT DEVELOPS AFTER UN VOTE ON RELIGIOUS DEFAMATION
The U.N. General Assembly has passed the non-binding Defamation of Religion Resolution for the fifth year in a row, reports MNN. However, support is eroding, says Open Doors Advocacy Director Lindsay Vessey. The Islamic-sponsored non-binding resolution passed with 80 votes in favor, 61 against and 42 abstentions. That compared with 86 votes to 53, with 42 abstentions for a similar text last year, and figures of 108-51-25 in 2007, the last time the measure commanded an absolute majority of U.N. members.
