GOA CHURCH FORGIVES PERSON WHO SHOWED PRIEST IN A BAD
LIGHT
Panaji, Zee News: Goa Church has said that it
has 'forgiven' a person, who allegedly produced a CD
against parish priest Father Diago Fernandes, which had
allegedly shown the priest in a bad light. The CD had
kicked up an agitation in Colva village.

EVANGELICAL BODY RECORDS 152 INCIDENTS OF
ANTI-CHRISTIAN VIOLENCE IN 2009
ChristianToday/ Jan 2, 2010 - The Evangelical
Fellowship of India (EFI) has recorded 152 incidents of
anti-Christian violence in 2009. In a report published
last month, EFI released the partial list of major
incidents that predominantly occurred in Karnataka,
Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

JHARKHAND CHIEF MINISTER ALLAYS AS CHRISTIAN FEARS
OVER BJP ALLIANCE
RANCHI, JAN 7 (UCAN) -- Jharkhand state's new
chief minister, Shibu Soren, who took power in alliance
with the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),
has told Catholic bishops the Church has his full
support. "I appreciate the work the Church is doing in
Jharkhand under their leadership. I need their prayers

Minister Kapil Sibal conferred awards on a Salesian
priest and a nun for their committed efforts in
education. Salesain Father Johny Parankamalil, former
principal of the St. Anthony`s Higher Secondary School
in Shillong, was awarded the Life Time Best Teacher
Award.

BCI CONSECRATES SIX NEW BISHOPS
Thiruvalla, 7 Jan 2010: The Believers Church
consecrated six new bishops at the St Thomas Cathedral.
The new bishops were selected by the Synod Executive
Coucil. They are Rev. B K Lukose (Kerala), Rev. C K
Noucham (Myanmar), Rev. B. Sunderraj (Tamil Nadu), Rev.
Anil Kumar Deb Varma (Tripura), Rev. Gopal Chhatri
(Nepal), Rev. Emmanuel Juribu (Sikkim).
