EDUCATIONAL AID FOR CHILDREN OF MINORITY GROUPS
New Delhi: The Delhi government has launched
various welfare schemes for students of classes 8
through 12 who belong to various minority groups. This
was announced by Shri.V.K.Bahal, Dy Director, Department
of SC/ST/OBC/ Minorities at the first meeting of
Christian Advisory Committee (CAC).

VP APPEALS FOR LAWS FOR PROTECTION OF MINORITIES
New Delhi: Addressing the annual conference of
State Minority Commissions organized under auspices of
Delhi State Minority Commission, the Vice President of
India, Mr. Hamid Ansari appealed to the government to
immediately frame a law on the pattern of SC-ST
Atrocities (Prevention) Act 1989 in order to bolster the
sense of security among minorities. Remarkably, no
representative from ministry for minorities affair
attended the conference.

ANTI-CHRISTIAN DISCRIMINATION IN MANIPUR
Imphal: A National Fact Finding team from
New Delhi met the victims of anti Christian
discrimination at Chingmeirong Rongmei Village here on
January 15, 2009, and examined the customary laws of the
village council. The fact finding team found some of
customary laws are unconstitutional and are used to
restrict the rights of Christians to practice their
