GOVERNMENT TO GIVE LAND FOR CEMETERY
New Delhi: The Delhi Minority Commission
has revealed that the government is to provide land for
the Christian community in the state free of cost for
maintaining a cemetery. The Delhi Minority Commission (DMC)
had adopted an unanimous resolution to this effect on
January 5, 2009. The DMC has informed the concerned
Block Development Officer to take suitable action as per
the Commission’s decision.

PASTOR
T.M. SIMON PROMOTED TO GLORY
New
Delhi:
Pastor T.M.Simon went
to his heavenly home to receive his eternal reward on
January 24, 2009 at 7:55 am. He was 72. Pastor T.M.Simon
was born at Ranny, Kerala and started his career with
Naval Flag office, Ministry of Defense, Bombay. Obeying
the calling to serve God he resigned from his job in
1964 and studied under the tutelage of Pastor Kurien
Thomas, Itarsi. After that he planted many churches in
the northern part of India.

violence in the Dangs district of Gujarat in 1998, and
the burning alive of Australian missionary Graham Stuart
Staines, on 22 January 1999, in Orissa, anti-Christian

EDUCATIONAL AID FOR CHILDREN OF MINORITY GROUPS
New Delhi: The Delhi government has launched
various welfare schemes for students of classes 8
through 12 who belong to various minority groups. This
was announced by Shr. V. K. Bahal, Dy Director,
Department of SC/ST/OBC/ Minorities at the first meeting
of Christian Advisory Committee (CAC).

VP APPEALS FOR LAWS FOR PROTECTION OF MINORITIES
New Delhi: Addressing the annual conference of
State Minority Commissions organized under auspices of
Delhi State Minority Commission, the Vice President of
India, Mr. Hamid Ansari appealed to the government to
immediately frame a law on the pattern of SC-ST
Atrocities (Prevention) Act 1989 in order to bolster the
sense of security among minorities. Remarkably, no

Imphal: A National Fact Finding team from
New Delhi met the victims of anti Christian
discrimination at Chingmeirong Rongmei Village here on
January 15, 2009, and examined the customary laws of the
village council. The fact finding team found some of
customary laws are unconstitutional and are used to
restrict the rights of Christians to practice their

oppressed Christians here. Five Pakistani Christians who
were falsely accused of blasphemy in April 2007 and had
been detained in prison, were recently acquitted of the
charges, according to reports.

CHRISTIAN GIRLS RESCUED FROM SEX SLAVERY
Karachi (Pakistan): Two Christian girls in
Pakistan have been rescued after more than a month of
captivity as sex slaves to Muslim lawyers in Karachi.
According to International Christian Concern, a human
rights organization focused on Christians who are
persecuted for their faith, Parvisha Alam, 18, and her
14-year-old sister Sanam of Gujranwala, Pakistan, were
abducted Nov. 12 by a neighbor, Muhammad Irfan, who
offered them training in cosmetology and jobs in his
beauty salon.

CHRISTIAN BLOGGER ARRESTED
Riyadh (Saudi Arabia): On January 13, 2009
Saudi police arrested Hamoud Bin Saleh (28) and blocked
access to his online blog, according to reports from The
Arabic Network for Human Rights Information. Saleh had
used his blog to express his opinion on religious issues
and discuss his conversion from Islam to Christianity.
