KERALA HC HANDS OVER PAUL MUTHOOT MURDER CASE TO CBI
KOCHI, Jan 22, 2010: In a major development in
the Paul George Muthoot murder case, the Kerala High
Court on Thursday ordered the investigation of the case
to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI). A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice S R Bannurmath and Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan
directed that the investigation be completed within six
months and the final report filed.

PASTOR AND CHURCH ASSAULTED IN RAJASTHAN; 6 ARRESTED
Udaipur, Jan 17, 2010 PTANews: In another
incident of alleged assault on Christians happened in
village Tidi Fala Maidi, a village about 60 kms away
from here, under the Govardhan Vilas police station on
Sunday, January 17. Pastor Surjeet Massey and 20
believers of his church were in prayer in the evening at
Dhanna Bhai's house in Tidi village. A group of about 15
people with iron rods, axes, stones and sticks entered
in the group and assaulted the people in prayer. Pastor
Surjeet Massey and the church belongs to Faith Calvary
Ministry.

Bangalore’s Christ University is shocked that his
college was about to lose its status as a “deemed”
university. It is among 44 universities to be de-listed
by the federal Ministry of the Human Resources
Development (MHRD) for violating guidelines and
introducing unrelated courses.

THE WEEK NAMES BIHAR PRIEST ‘MAN OF THE YEAR’
UCA News: A national weekly has named a Catholic
priest as its "man of the year," in recognition of his
efforts to restore the life of some 50,000 leprosy
patients in Bihar. The Kerala-based "The Week" selected
Father Christudas of Bettiah diocese for its 2009
recognition and ran the cover of its December last week
edition with his photograph.

NUNS LEAD WAY IN ORGANIC FARMING
January 20, 2010 CathNews: A congregation of
nuns from indigenous Igorot communities in the northern
Philippines is showing how organic farming can be both
lucrative and good for the environment. The nuns share
their knowledge of organic farming with local villagers,
and have organized more than 200 households in nearby
communities who have previously relied on chemicals in
farming.

NUN PRINCIPAL RETURNS STATE AWARD
Jan 13, 2010, Cathnews India: Sister Sebastina,
the principal of Chandigarh's Sacred Heart School, where
Ruchika Girhotra studied, has returned her state award.
Sister Sebastina returned the honor after the Chandigarh
administration directed that she be stripped of her
award for her role in the expulsion of Ruchika from
school following her molestation by former Haryana DGP
S.P.S. Rathore, 19 years ago. She was the school
principal in 1990, when Ruchika was expelled.
