When we are so occupied
with ourselves, we often fail to detect God's whispering
voice. To get our attention, He may shout through
unusual situations.
Moses' profile reads like that of a high achiever
destined for even greater heights. He was raised like a
prince ensconced in the opulent luxury and creature
comforts of the Pharaoh's palace. He was armed with the
best education equivalent to Harvard or Cambridge. Then,
in a sudden turn of events, he absconds to the
wilderness after committing murder. At this juncture,
Moses apparently seems like a leader turned loser, no
different from corporate bigwigs such as Enron's Ken Lay
(his dad was a preacher!) or Satyam's Ramalinga Raju who
had fallen into ignominy and disgrace.
But God had big plans for Moses and needed his
attention. So God planned something that Moses could not
simply ignore - a burning bush. As if that was not
'unusual' enough, God spoke through the burning bush!
Surely we would never overlook such a spectacle, would
we?
For God to communicate to you, He needs your undivided
attention. Even if that means God doing something
unusual or odd! For a truly born-again child of God,
there is no such thing as an accident. Everything we
see, hear and experience has been allowed by God for us
to notice and for a very good reason. We must learn to
discern God's voice in every situation, be it strange or
simple; be it miraculous or mundane.
You may be basking in an incredibly good situation or
perhaps struggling in an unbearably agonising condition.
Be wise and ask the Lord to help you to perceive Him in
everything that happens in your life.
