OBAMA CALLS FOR FREEDOM FOR ALL IN CHINA
Christian Post, Nov 17, 2009: US President
Barack Obama spoke up for human rights and internet
freedom in his first official visit to China on Monday.
“These freedoms of expression and worship, of access to
information and political participation, we believe are
universal rights, they should be available to all people
including ethnic and religious minorities,” Mr Obama
told the audience in Shanghai.

PAK PREZ PARDONS 59 CHRISTIANS
Nov 16, 2009: About 59 Christian prisoners in
Pakistan received a new lease of life when President
Asif Ali Zardari pardoned and freed them on Friday.
Heeding to an appeal by 'Life for All', a Lahore-based
Christian organization, the President released the
prisoners who were falsely accused of minor crimes and
languished in jails without obtaining legal aid due to
financial constraints.

CHURCH OPPOSES EU CRUCIFIX BAN
Nov 14, 2009: The Greek Orthodox Church
has come out in opposition to a ban on crucifixes in
classrooms in Italy. It wants to see Christians across
Europe unite in opposition to the ruling by the European
Court of Human Rights last week which stated that the
presence of crucifixes in the classroom violates
religious and educational freedoms.

blankets to stave off deaths caused by lack of proper

CHURCH CELEBRATES BERLIN WALL ANNIVERSARY
Nov 9, 2009: Church leaders have paid
tribute to the faith and courage of ordinary men and
women who helped unify Germany and end the Cold War on
the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall
today. The newly elected head of the Evangelical Church
in Germany (EKD), Bishop Margot Kaessmann, said dream
became reality when the wall came down on 9 November
1989.

15000 MALAY BIBLES SEIZED; IS “ALLAH” GOD?
Christian Post, Oct 30, 2009: Malaysian
authorities have seized more than 15,000 Bibles that
refer to God as “Allah” in recent months, said church
officials Thursday. About 10,000 Bibles from Indonesia
were confiscated by authorities on Sept. 11, according
to the Rev. Hermen Shastri, general secretary of the
Council of Churches of Malaysia, according to The
Associated Press. The other 5,100 Bibles, also from
Indonesia, were seized in March, according to an
official from the Bible Society of Malaysia, who
requested that AP not identify him to avoid angering the
government.
