AICOCIM 2009:AROMATIC OR ODOURLESS?
The four- day Church in Mission conference (AIC OCIM
2009) drawing hundreds of delegates from all over the
country ended on October 16 with a series of
affirmations relating to faith and mission at the Logos
Bhavan in Secunderabad. Mammoth efforts had gone into
the organisation of the conference.Leaders, evangelists
and activists of various kinds shared their experiences
and challenges during the numerous sessions.

CHRISTIAN DELEGATION ACQUAINTS HOME MINISTER ON
KANDHAMAL
Christian Today November 23, 2009: The
concerns of the Christian community in regards to
Kandhamal were last week expressed to Home Minister of
India, P Chidambaram. A Catholic delegation led by
Archbishop Stanislaus Fernandes, the Secretary General
of CBCI, apprised the Home Minister with the current
situation in the riot-hit district and called for steps
required to bring justice to the victims.

Nov 25, 2009: Those behind last year's
brutal violence against Christians in Orissa have been
officially declared. The Chief Minister of the state,
Naveen Patnaik, has acceded and certified the
speculation of Christians that "Sangh Parivar" had a
major role in fuelling the violence.

MUMBAI BLESSED WITH THE GOSPEL
Mumbai: The first week of November saw
several gospel meetings in the city of Mumbai. In
Ambernath and Ullhasnagar area, November 6, 7, and 8 saw
mighty outpouring of the holy spirit in Ram Babu's
meeting. In Bandra Kurla Complex, it was Dr.Paul
Dhinakaran's peace festival where lakhs of people poured
in and where blessed.

WORLD TOILET DAY: TIME FOR INDIA TO WAKE UP?
Mumbai: On November 19, World Toilet Day,
Jack Sim, founder of the World Toilet Organization, has
a theory about why governments and people are so
reluctant to talk about hygiene: it isn't cool. "People
demand a TV, not a toilet, because it is not
aspirational or charismatic," said Sim, who does not
hesitate to talk in graphic detail about thedangers of
poor sanitation.

MIZO BISHOP APPEALS FOR PEACE
AIZAWL, Nov 18: Aizawl Bishop Stephen
Rotluanga appealed to the people here to end the ethnic
violence in the western belt of Mizoram triggered by the
gunning down of Mizo youth Zarzokima by Bru militants.
The Bishop, appealing to the Mizos to maintain peace and
harmony as before, said, “It is really sad that killing
of innocent people, arsons and intimidation had taken
place in the most peaceful State of India, Mizoram.”

September. For four days, the students fanned out across

EUNUCHS TO INDICATE THEIR GENDER AS 'OTHER': EC
Nov 12 2009: In a significant decision,
the Election Commission of India has decided to allow
eunuchs/transsexuals to indicate their gender as 'other'
where they do not want to be described as male or
female. Besides the electoral roll, the decision also
applies to all other forms used by the Commission
wherein the provisions of indication of gender of the
elector is made, including IT based formats and website.
