God works in mysterious
ways and is often difficult to anticipate. Many young
friends fail to be patient with God; they want whatever
their eyes desire and want them immediately! The Bible
talks about numerous instances where people had to be
patient, and God's provisions came at the right time in
God's eyes. Trusting God and expecting to receive a
miracle is comparatively easier but waiting till God's
time is more difficult. When God does not act as we
intent, in the time frame we give, many of us give up
Go d and walk away!
Abraham received a promise from God that he will have a
son. But it never materialized till the biologically
possible days. Abraham's wife Sarah lost all hope and
even laughed when the promise was being confirmed. But
Abraham still trusted in the Lord and believed that God
will honour His promise.
And God did honour His word by giving him a son called
Isaac but not at the time when everyone anticipated. He
gave Isaac at a time when no one thought that it was
possible. The value of Isaac would not have been felt if
God were to give him in a natural way. God wanted to
give Isaac in a supernatural way! In the eyes of Abraham
and Sarah, God was late, but in reality…he was on time!
Lazarus and his sisters were not only friends but were
followers of Christ. When Lazarus became sick, his
family sent word to Him asking Him to come. But
strangely Jesus decided to stay wherever He was for a
few more days. By the time Jesus came to Lazarus' house,
he was already dead and was entombed. His sisters wept
and said 'if you were on time, our brother would not
have died'. 'You could have healed him' they added.
The sisters had faith in Jesus that he can heal their
brother. Because, they had seen and heard about Jesus
healing others, they expected that Jesus could do the
same to their brother too. But then, they could never
comprehend that something more dramatic and deeper could
also happen through Christ. Despite of their scepticism,
they confessed their faith in Christ and Jesus called
Lazarus out and presented him to the family. In the eyes
of Mary and Martha, Jesus was late, but in reality…he
was on time!
As we struggle with our petty and serious issues of
life, let us cling on to God's promises. It is true that
it is awful and frustrating to wait. But, it is a
thrilling adventure to walk with God who does
supernatural things which are beyond our comprehension.
Miracles will happen in our lives as it happened in
Abraham's and Lazarus' household. He allows situations
to go over our head sometimes, but remember He is in
control and wants to do supernatural interventions in
our lives.
Sometimes, we too may think 'oh, it is too late'
but…trust me, He will be on time! His time is always the
right time! Expect a miracle! Expect it today!
