Hi child, this is Christmas season. Everywhere in the
world Christians celebrate Christmas in different ways.
Some take it to the extreme with drinking and wild
parties. But that is not the way to remember the birth
of Jesus, the Son of the living God. It is true that
there is dispute among different Christian groups about
the date of Jesus' birth. But we can remember in a godly
way the birth of Jesus during this season.

On the night when Jesus was born, some shepherds were in
the fields near the little town of Bethlehem. They were
taking care of their sheep. The night was dark, but all
at once a wonderful light came down from heaven. It was
brighter than the sun, and it was shining all around
them. An angel sent by God was in the light.
At first the shepherds were very much afraid. But the
angel said: "Don't be afraid. I bring you good news,
which is for all people. The Saviour was born this night
in Bethlehem. You will find Him lying in a manger."
Then the shepherds saw many, many angels there above the
fields in Bethlehem. The angles had come from heaven to
praise God for sending His Son Jesus. They were glad He
would be the Saviour of all people. They sang: "Glory to
God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward
men." After that the angels went back to heaven and it
was dark again.
For a while the shepherds were very quite. They were
wondering about the wonderful thing they had seen. They
were thinking about the good news they had heard from
the angels. Then they said: "Let us go to Bethlehem and
see the Saviour."
So the shepherds left their sheep and hurried off to
Bethlehem. There they found Mary and Joseph in the
stable and the Baby Jesus lying in His manger bed. How
happy the shepherds were! They knew that this Baby was
God's own Son. They knew He had come to save them and
all people from their sins.
The shepherds were thankful. They got down on their
knees and prayed to the Baby Jesus. Then they told Mary
and Joseph what the angel had said and how the angels
had sung praises to God. Mary and Joseph listened to the
shepherds, and Mary kept on thinking about everything
they had told her. Just think! Her Baby Jesus was God's
Son! He was the Saviour God had promised to send!
When the shepherds went back home, what do you think
they did? They told everybody that the Saviour had come.
Like the angels, they were happy and thankful. They
praised God for sending the Saviour.
Dear child, this was perhaps the happiest moment in the
lives of those shepherds. They had seen and worshipped
the Savour of the world. Let us remember and thank God
for sending His Son to save us, so that we could be His
children. May the Lord bless you! Wish you a Merry
Christmas and a Happy new year!
