Faith
is not a substance that we obtain overnight through our
own effort nor is it a momentary emotional declaration,
“I am a man of faith and I declare it.” On a few
occasions Jesus Christ called His disciples “you of
little faith,” and a few others, He hailed, ‘you of
great faith.’ Needless to say, there is a ‘little faith’
and a ‘great faith.’ While giving instructions to His
disciples, while teaching about forgiveness, the
disciples pleaded, “Lord, increase our faith.” By
nature, the measure of faith keeps increasing or
decreasing. In fact, faith never is stagnant; rather, it
is dynamic-either progressing or retrograding.
History reveals that God works only through persons of
faith. In other words, God can use only a person of
faith. Contrary to our imaginations, nothing happens
accidentally. Every single thing happening in this world
is well planned and projected by the Creator God. In
order to fulfill His plan and purpose, persons of faith
indispensable for building up a strong family, society,
institution, and nation.
‘The righteous shall live by faith.’ Righteousness is
doing the right thing before God. Faith increases in our
life as we walk with God every day. God manifests His
power through every incident that keeps our life safe
and sound. Our faith increases as we experience these
manifestations every day. His mighty deeds and
protection in our life make us to trust in Him.
God’s promises are received by faith. “And without faith
it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes
to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards
those who earnestly seek Him” (Heb 11:6). Without faith
none of the promises are going to be fulfilled in our
life. In Hebrew 11, we find a list of people who pleased
God through their faith and received promises and
blessings from Him.
The Word of God works in us through faith. The message
from God has to be received with faith. “For we also
have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did;
but the message they heard was of no value to them,
because those who heard did not combine it with faith.
(Heb 4:2) . The Word has power to change our life if it
is received with faith. The change from despair to hope,
weakness to strength, sickness to wholeness, death to
life and hatred to love.
None of the above blessings and promises can be
materialized in our life unless we have a momentum in
faith. Losing momentum will put us in reverse gear as
there is no stage of stagnancy in faith. Let the
momentum keep us moving and progressing in our faith.
None of the station we halt at on the face of this earth
during our journey towards eternity is our destination.
All the blessings and promises we receive on earth from
God is just the way towards eternity, our final
destination. Let our faith take us to there.
