NAGMA TO CONTEST LOK SABHA POLLS

Mumbai: Actor Nagma who made news by publicly proclaiming her faith in Jesus Christ has decided to enter active politics. In Mumbai’s North-West Lok Sabha constituency, part of which was represented by actor Govinda, Nagma has asked the Congress high command to consider her candidature.

The actress, who did not have an impressive Bollywood stint, is popular among Bhojpuri speaking north Indians who form a huge chunk of this constituency. Nagma had won the Bhojpuri Best Actress award in 2005 for her role in film Dulha Milal Dildar. She had earned fame as the top actor in Tamil and Telugu too.

The Congress desperately needs a charismatic personality here to blur out the wrath incurred by its current Member of Parliament Govinda who has been accused of playing truant from Parliamentary sessions to prop up his sagging film career.

Hailed by some as the "Madhuri Dixit of Bhojpuri cinema", Nagma was in the industrial town of Kanpur to participate in a party programme. Asked if she failed to get the ticket from Mumbai, the actress said she was willing to contest from any other Lok Sabha constituency. "I can contest from Aligarh, Moradabad or Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh or from Indore in Madhya Pradesh," she added.
