Before the last elections many churches
all over the country prayed. There was also the ‘One
Million Prayer’ program all over the nation.
We did not pray for any particular party to win. We just
prayed that God should bring to power the government of
His choice a government that will let us do God’s Will
and let us live in peace. And we believe that is what
God did. Therefore, it is beyond doubt that it was God’s
hand that established the government in our land. Let us
give thanks to the Lord for this.
All governance is upon Jesus’ shoulders because He has
paid the price for man’s redemption.
Therefore, He will set up a government of His choice
when we ask Him to. Seeing God’s love and concern for
our nation, we must continue to pray for it. We should
pray not forgetting that prayer for our nation is also
our solemn responsibility (Cf. 1 Samuel 12:23). God
loves the world and God loves our nation. He loves every
person in our nation. Our fellow human beings are not
our enemies and we do not fight them. But we fight in
prayer the unseen spiritual evil force and the powers of
darkness that deceives man into unlawful activities.
God is ready to do His part to bless our nation provided
we, His Children, do our part. You may WONDER, what is
our part? As ambassador of Christ to Pray for His will
be done on earth. We must know what a vital role we have
been given by God in the advancement of His Kingdom on
earth. God has appointed and ordained us to exercise His
rule upon earth in the name of Jesus. (...We are
ambassadors for Christ.-2 Cor 5:20)
God had given man dominion over the earth. (Gen 1:28)
But when man sinned by obeying Satan, he lost the
dominion to Satan. Satan become the ruler of the world.
Even Jesus called him the ‘ruler of the world’. But
after Jesus conquered sin and death, Satan lost his
legal hold over the earth and all authority was given to
Jesus.
- Jesus received all authority in
heaven and earth (Matt 28 :18)
- Jesus received the keys to set
people free from Satan’s kingdom into God’s Kingdom.
(Rev 3:7)
- Jesus received the privilege to
ask the Father the nations for His inheritance. (Ps.
2:7,8)
Jesus gave these privileges and
authority to His Church in order to use it for the
advancement of His Kingdom.
- He gave us the authority over all
the power of the enemy (Luke 9:1,2). Thank Him for
this authority.
- He have us the power to release
men from satan’s kingdom. Matt 16:18,19). Thank Him
for this power.
- He gave us the privilege of
asking the Father anything in His Name, i.e. On His
behalf, the exte-nsion of God’s kingdom in the
nations (John 15:7). Thank the Lord for this
privilege.
Therefore, having been cleansed from
our transgressions and having received the authority in
the name of Jesus, we are to approach the throne of
grace with faith and confidence and ask our Father in
heaven. (Heb 4:14-16)
That His Name be glorified on earth; That His Will be
done on earth as in heaven (Matt 6:9-13). In all the
areas of our lives, we are to pray with this authority
and never neglect to do so because the fate of the earth
depends on Christian prayer in Jesus’ name (Jn
14:13,14).
Christian Prayer in Jesus’ name manifests the authority
of Jesus on Earth.
Although Satan lost his legal hold when Jesus defeated
him, he still seeks to illicitly exercise his evil rule
by blinding people to the Gospel and influencing them to
do his evil will, especially those in authority. (2 Tim
2:25, 26) Let’s pray that God would open the eyes of
people.
Rulers of nations, directly or indirectly, help promote
or hinder the growth of God’s kingdom. The right or
wrong government can greatly affect the lives of people
here on earth and also in eternity. Therefore God has
commanded us to pray first of all, for governments and
those in authority (1 Tim 2 :1-4).
Let’s pray for the government in our State and in
Nation. Therefore God wants us to pray for the
Government so that the people may grow in love, peace
and godliness.
God may allow persecution at times. But God’s general
direction for prayer is to pray for a rule of peace for
the Church in the land. This prayer, the Apostle Paul
assures, is a right prayer and pleases God our Saviour.
Therefore, God will definitely answer this prayer.
Our present need is to pray for our nation’s General
Elections in 2009. Our prayer in the Name of Jesus will
release God’s power and His Will will be done. Because
of the intricacy and the magnitude of the task, do not
wonder if it will ever happen? Didn’t we see how
direction of our nation changed from what was expected?
Did we know how it happened? Certainly not! All we know
is that God did it when the nation prayed! Let’s ask God
to remove unbelief and give us faith.
The apostles were frightened to preach the Gospel. But
with God’s power they turned the world upside down.
Let’s pray this anointing upon the Church. Will God do
the same for us? Will God do it again in our Nation?
Definitely! He will. Because that is His Will. So just
believe and pray. And God will do it by His power. Our
prayer is powerful enough to break satan’s kingdom (2Cor
10:4,5).
We are God’s authority upon the earth, not satan or the
demons, nor is it anyone whom God has not appointed.
Spend about 10 minutes daily in prayer for the nation
from the day you get this newspaper until the elections.
Imagine the millions of hours of prayer that will rise
before God’s throne; the incense of the saints. The Name
of Jesus shall be exalted in this Nation.
